Meet Mightybell
Sept. 22, 2011, 10:28 a.m. by Roland Taylor

<em>No, not our own Joshua Bell, he's more mighty :).</em> I'm talking about a new social experience that's looking to change the game. Yeah, so we have Google+ (<em>cough Diaspora clone cough</em>) and Facebook (<em>cough Google+ clone cough</em>), Twitter... Identi.ca... but none of them are really about <strong><em>your</em></strong> experience. Also, with them, you jump into a world that's <em><strong>already defined</strong></em> ...

Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - It's come a long way
Sept. 16, 2011, 3:41 p.m. by James Gifford

First of all, I'm a Unity lover. While it doesn't work well with my graphics card, I love it all the same. <!--more--> Now that that's out of the way, Unity has come a <em>long</em> (and I mean <em>long</em>) way from Maverick Meerkat Netbook Remix, the release of Ubuntu where Unity first appeared. So, what is special about Unity in ...

Aug. 21, 2011, 7:06 p.m. by Roland Taylor

<em>I should have written this post since Wednesday, but I've been busy preparing for and upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 (as you would know if you were reading our blog regularly).</em> [caption id="attachment_1518" align="aligncenter" width="431" caption="PlayOnLinux"]<a href="http://www.2buntu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/2011-08-21_20-53-09.png">[image:2011-08-21_20-53-09.png]</a>[/caption] <h2><strong>What's new?</strong></h2> A lot, to put it lightly. The first thing I noticed was the new (and slick) toolbar. I could just be seeing ...

Or IDE for short which funnily enough also stands for Integrated Development Environment but that would make anInsanelyboring title. However There is nothing boring about IDE's oh no. Yes they may be complex grey and have a lot of writing but think of it like thisRembrandt'seasel was nothing special andMozart didn't have a Yamaha so just because its functional doesn't ...

Looking for another simulator? Try OpenTracks
Aug. 17, 2011, 9:05 a.m. by Roland Taylor

That's right, another simulator! <a href="https://launchpad.net/opentracks" target="_blank"><em><strong>OpenTracks</strong></em></a>. This time, it's one, a train simulator, is developed by one of our own; George Edison. Like FlightGear, OpenTracks is open-source, so you can not only play it, you can contribute to it. Speaking of which, I plan to contribute to it myself. The code is in C++ (the language I learned in ...

FlightGear 2.4 takes flight!
Aug. 17, 2011, 8:57 a.m. by Roland Taylor

As I mentioned earlier this month, FlightGear is under rapid development recently, and today, 2.4 has <a href="http://www.flightgear.org/announcements/flightgear-v2-4-0-released/" target="_blank"><strong><em>landed</em></strong></a> (didn't we just say it took flight?), bringing a load of changes to this wonderful simulator. To be honest, the full list of changes is way too long for us, but... I'll still put it here anyway :D: <blockquote> <h3>Aircraft operations:</h3> ...

Pyrenamer, Go Ubuntu!
July 11, 2011, 12:32 p.m. by Allan Shand

I have tried out quite a few different apps or in the olden days they used to be called programs. Mainly because you can and I don't just mean that there free but also because of the knowledge that if a program has managed to get into the Ubuntu/Debian repositories its a fair bet that its not going to nuke ...

July 9, 2011, 6:55 p.m. by Roland Taylor

Are you a web developer? Then meet the Jack Of All Webdev Trades for Ubuntu and other Linux distributions (probably will work on other *NIX OSs). [caption id="attachment_1262" align="aligncenter" width="590" caption="Web Developer Tools"]<a href="http://2buntu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/2011-07-09_21-36-32.png"><img src="http://2buntu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/2011-07-09_21-36-32-1024x872.png" /></a>[/caption] Maybe even too many tools, but don't worry, you can even turn them off! Web Developer Tools. Can it get any more straight forward ...

Gource - An Excellent Tool for Viewing Revisions
July 5, 2011, 5:15 p.m. by Nathan Osman

For those of you who use a distributed revision control system on a regular basis (and even those of you who don't but are curious to know what it's all about) - you can now see a visualization of the revisions made to a repository using a really neat tool called 'gource'. Instead of an introduction, I'll let you see ...

Lugaru HD - great game, let down by some short comings.
July 5, 2011, 11:46 a.m. by Roland Taylor

[important]As promised, I'm reviewing Lugaru HD. However, I must admit - while I love the game, there are some areas that sadly let the game down.[/important] In Lugaru HD, you play as Turner, a Chuck Norris styled Bunny. Yes... a bunny. There are no flashy interfaces and overkilled graphics to worry about - but they game looks wonderful. You don't ...

Browser Wars Interlude - Speed
June 28, 2011, 9:18 a.m. by Roland Taylor

One of the biggest selling points for many browsers these days is speed, but isn't speed a bit over rated? Also, isn't speed rather subjective these days? Think about it for a bit. I'm a Firefox user, but I often switch to Chrome/ium and Opera, and sometimes to Midori. One of the things I also do often is clear my ...
