As part of my 14.04 testing experience, I've run into a few issues with Unity, Gnome Fallback and Pantheon, my desktop environments of choice, so I've decided to hop onto XFCE and see how it's grown. Sadly, XFCE still doesn't have any option to set a picture for your user account. This just isn't cool... but there is a fix!

If you need a profile picture, all you need to do is save a .png file of your choice, at 96x96 pixels, as .face in your home directory (~/). You may use GIMP or Pinta to resize an existing photo (be sure to use the best quality). Hopefully, the next version of XFCE will finally pick up support for changing your profile picture.
