A big hello to all you fellow artists out there. If you use Inkscape, you probably know that it is frustratingly slow to make new releases, and as a result, it's lagging behind in the switch to GTK+ 3... or is it?

InkscapeGTK3

Hax?

You may not even notice the difference, but if you know what to look for, you should notice that this picture of Inkscape using Adwaita dark. The real thing, not a GTK+ 2 lookalike.

So where can you get this greatness? Well, before you leap for joy, I must warn you. This is a development version, and as such, there are expected bugs and niggles. They shouldn't be too common (from my limited experience).

  • First add: ppa:inkscape.dev/trunk
  • Refresh your sources and install: inkscape-trunk-gtk3

This will replace your existing Inkscape and will break sozi (just in case you had it installed). So far I have not had any serious issues.

NB: this PPA also supports Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr.
